Alright, let’s get something out of the way up front. This release is almost 4 years old and would not normally be reviewed because of its age, but this is way too good not to be heard. Yes, it is that good that I would stake my reputation as a fledgling writer on it. I don’t want to get caught up on labels. What kind of music is it? I have no freaking idea how to label it. Call it whatever you want to. It is just great rock n roll music that may prove to have staying power. What makes it even better is that these are just some unassuming guys from the Champaign region of Illinois who obviously just enjoy playing in and around their town. This needs to be heard by the masses or at least some folks around the country. It rivals any of the so called alt country “must own records” that I have ever heard.
Having to pick favorite tracks is difficult, as they are all great. If I must, then let me select Margie Rose, Harlean, Loser Studded Funeral, Hire the Pipers, and White Limousine. Enough, I need to show some restraint. I hear elements of the Replacements, Meat Puppets, Uncle Tupelo, and some classic country as well. They took those elements and fused them into a sound that is uniquely their own. The writing is superb and the melodies are infectious. Go to Bandcamp and give them some love and some $$$$s.
